Families of young children with developmental concerns often end up managing five professionals, three waiting lists and a folder of reports nobody else has read. A key worker takes that on. They are your single point of contact, they know your child, and they hold the whole picture so you do not have to carry it alone.
The key worker model comes from the NDIS Early Childhood Approach. Instead of your child seeing every discipline separately, one practitioner works directly with your family and draws on the rest of the team behind the scenes. Sessions happen in the places your child already spends time: home, childcare, preschool, the park.

Frequently asked questions
Will my child miss out by seeing one person instead of four?
No. Your key worker draws on the whole team and brings in a specific discipline directly whenever your child needs it. The early childhood approach is built on the evidence that one trusted relationship works better for young children than a rotating cast.
Can the key worker come to childcare or preschool?
Yes, with the service's agreement. Working alongside educators is often where the biggest gains happen, because the strategies then run all week rather than for one hour.
What happens when my child starts school?
We help with the transition, including handover to school staff and any reports needed, and we talk through what support looks like after the early childhood pathway ends.
