Psychology

Confidential, evidence-based psychological support, at a pace you set, with someone who takes your culture and your faith seriously.

A space that is genuinely yours

Talking to a psychologist can feel like a big step, especially in communities where mental health is still a hard subject at home. We keep it simple. You come as you are, you say as much as you want to, and what you share stays in the room apart from the rare situations the law requires, which we explain to you in the first session.

Sessions are built around goals you choose. That might be managing anxiety, working through grief or trauma, handling anger differently, rebuilding routines after time in hospital, or coming to terms with a diagnosis that changed your life. We use approaches with real evidence behind them, and we adapt them to fit your life rather than asking your life to fit the approach.

  • Anxiety, low mood and stress
  • Trauma and grief support
  • Emotional and behavioural regulation
  • Adjusting to disability or diagnosis
  • Sessions with an interpreter if you want one
  • Reports for NDIS plan reviews

How we help

Support that respects where you come from and moves at the speed you can manage.

Evidence, not guesswork

We use approaches with a strong research base, and we check in regularly to make sure the work is actually helping rather than just continuing.

Culturally safe by default

Ask for an interpreter and one can join your session, in the language you choose. Faith and family are part of the conversation, not something to explain away.

Your pace, and only yours

There is no schedule to keep up with. Some people want weekly sessions, others check in once a month. Both are a legitimate way to do this.

Who it's for

Psychology is usually funded through Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living. If you are not on the NDIS, ask us what is possible and what it would cost.

What to expect

No assessment on day one, and no pressure to open up before you are ready.

We listen

A first session with no expectation that you share more than you want to. We talk about what brought you here and what you would like to be different.

We co-design

We agree on a small number of goals and the approach we will use, and we set a review point so you can change direction without awkwardness.

We deliver

Regular sessions in person or online, practical strategies to try between them, and honest conversations about what is working.

Frequently asked questions

Is what I say kept private?

Yes. What you share stays between you and your psychologist. The exceptions are narrow, mainly where someone's safety is at serious risk or a court requires records, and we explain them clearly before you start.

Can I have sessions in my own language?

Yes. Tell us the language you would rather use and an accredited interpreter can join your sessions, so you can say what you mean without translating it first. You can also call TIS National on 131 450 and ask them to connect you with Crescent Care.

Do I need a mental health care plan from my GP?

Not for NDIS funded or private sessions with us. A GP mental health care plan is for Medicare rebated psychology, which is a separate pathway. We are happy to explain both so you can choose.

Need an interpreter?

Call TIS National on 131 450 at any time, and ask them to connect you with Crescent Care.

Start whenever you are ready

You do not need the right words to make an enquiry. Tell us roughly what is going on and our intake team will take it from there.
